Add to Lightbox DownloadThe Greenlandic Inuit lived in sod homes, until Scandinavian colonizers began shipping timber kits north in the 18th century. The bright colors originally telegraphed the buildings' functions: red stores, yellow hospitals, black police stations and blue fish factories.
